Mary sat, listened, and received. This wasn't laziness; it was wisdom.

In our achievement-driven culture, sitting feels counterproductive. We equate busyness with faithfulness. But intimacy with Christ cannot be rushed or multitasked. What distractions are keeping you from sitting at Jesus' feet? What "good things" are crowding out the "one thing necessary"?

Today, resist the urge to perform and instead choose presence. Let your pursuit of knowing Christ begin with simply being with Christ. The better part is still available to those who choose it.

Earthly kings demand flattery and pretense, but the true King invites us to fall down and come clean. The gold He desires most is the raw, unrefined, broken parts of ourselves we try to hide. Shame tells us to clean up before coming to Jesus, but Scripture reveals the opposite: "A broken and contrite heart, O God, You will not despise." He doesn't just tolerate your mess—He reaches for it first. Your weakness is not a disqualification; it's an invitation. Stop hiding what God wants to redeem. The weary you, the failing you, the "I messed up again" you—that's the you Jesus loves most.

Reflection Question: What brokenness am I hiding that God wants to redeem?

Your most focused moments or your final exhausted minutes? Your best talents or whatever's convenient? The test of true recognition is the tribute we bring. When we give God our leftovers, we're essentially crowning Herod—the false kings of comfort, security, and self-preservation. But when we give our first and best, we crown Jesus as Lord. Your treasure, time, and talent are tests of allegiance. What you give first reveals who you truly worship. This week, identify one area where you've been giving Jesus your "rest" instead of your "best," and make a change.

Reflection Question: Am I bringing Jesus my best or whatever costs me the least?

In 1 John, he writes, "We are in him who is true... the true God and eternal life" (5:20), binding us together in Christ. That unity shines in 2 John’s call to "love one another" (v. 5-6)—not just a suggestion, but a command that knits us close. Then, in 3 John, we see it lived out: Gaius opens his home to traveling missionaries (v. 5-8), while Diotrephes stirs trouble, rejecting others (v. 9-10). Community can be messy, but it’s where God works.

Psalm 20 captures this beautifully: "May we shout for joy over your victory and lift up our banners in the name of our God" (v. 5). It’s a "we" song—together, we trust in God’s name, not our own strength (v. 7), and together, we rise (v. 8). This is a we/us faith! Alone we are weak, together we are strong. Let us stand together and shout in victory!

Application:
Who’s in your circle today? Imagine that—pure, radiant light! He invites us into fellowship with this holy God, but there’s a catch: we must walk in that light too. It’s not just about saying we believe in God, the devil and his demons believe; it’s about living it—obeying His commands and turning from the world’s fleeting and frivolous distractions. Today we say we believe, and we act like it!

But what happens when we stumble? John doesn’t leave us guessing: "We have an advocate with the Father—Jesus Christ, the Righteous One" (2:1). Jesus isn’t just our example; He’s our defender, pleading our case when sin threatens to break that fellowship. His sacrifice covers us (2:2), so we’re not stuck in guilt but freed to obey!

John urges us to live this out—loving God, not the world (2:15-17), and guarding against deceivers who twist the truth (2:18-27). Psalm 26 mirrors this heart: "I have trusted in the Lord... I love the house where you live" (v. 1, 8). David longs to stay near God, not the deceitful (v. 4-5), trusting Him to keep him steady and true.

Application:
Where’s your heart today? Are you chasing the world’s fleeting pursuits —success, approval, comfort—or to the steady light of God’s truth? When you falter, don’t hide—run to Jesus, your Advocate (1 John 1:9). Today let us choose obedience over compromise. Like David, let’s pray, "Test me, Lord" (Psalm 26:2), and ask for strength to stand and not stumble.

Prayer:
Lord, You are my light. Forgive me when I stray into shadows. Help me walk in Your truth, love Your presence, and obey Your Word. Keep me from deception, and draw me closer to You. Amen.

But now we do not yet see all things subjected to him.

The greater point of Heb 2:5-8 is that God has placed man upon this earth to bring it into subjection. This premise is given radical illustration in How God Himself had to become a man to set things right. God has established man with authority and power to rule over His creation. Let us call this disciplined governance.

However, "we do not yet see all things subjected to him." It is reminiscent of Deut 1:8 where the Lord says - "I have placed the land before you, now enter and possess it". Yet many failed to do so to which we hear Joshua lament - "How long will you put off entering to take possession of the land which the LORD, the God of your fathers, has given you?".

There is a gap between what God makes available and what His people rule and reign in. We often pray over those gaps in areas of our need - whether finance, relationship, health, and fill in the blank. God gives answer to these prayers most often with simple wisdom to add disciplined governance in the area of our appeal.

Honor God with disciplined governance and where that comes short God will then honor us with divine provision. This is ORDER & GLORY.

What area of your life do you need to add more disciplined governance in?

Life Church - let us wait no longer. We shall seek the Lord and then take what has been given!

Let us subject the earth.
